Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump criticized rival Jeb Bush Wednesday for constantly speaking Spanish on the campaign trail.
“I like Jeb,” Trump said. “He’s a nice man. But he should really set the example by speaking English while in the United States.”Trump’s remark follows comments Bush made in Florida this week when he claimed the real estate magnate is “not a conservative” and who tries to make everything personal.
“El hombre no es conservador,” Bush told reporters in Miami, adding in English, “if you’re not totally in agreement with him, you’re an idiot, you’re stupid, you’re blah blah blah.”
Bush would be the first president fluent in Spanish if he won. He has said that he speaks more Spanish at home than English. His wife, Columba Bush, is a Mexican immigrant.
Trump, who has reached a new high in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, also declared that he would not only win in 2016 but also win reelection in 2020, and will be known as a “great conservative” like Ronald Reagan.
He takes 30 percent support nationally, a four-point gain over the same survey from before the first GOP debate, according to a Monmouth University survey released on Thursday."@YoungYoung54: @JeriHyatt @megynkelly @JebBush So true. Jeb Bush is crazy, who cares that he speaks Mexican, this is America, English !!"
