  • Ivy League Professor: Ben Carson Is The ‘Coon Of The Year’

A University of Pennsylvania Professor called African-American presidential candidate Ben Carson a “coon” for arguing that people have the right to display Confederate flags on private property.

“If only there was a ‘coon of the year’ award…” Anthea Butler, a religion studies professor, lamented on Twitter.

Butler was responding to another tweet that linked to a Sports Illustrated article in which Carson was quoted on how Carson defended NASCAR fans flying the Confederate flag on private during races.

“Swastikas are a symbol of hate for some people too … and yet they still exist in our museums and places like that,” Carson said during the event in North Carolina with NASCAR legend Richard Petty.

NASCAR races are held on private property and “if it’s a majority of people in that area who want it to fly, I certainly wouldn’t take it down,” Carson added.

Butler deleted the “coon” tweet from her account shortly after Campus Reform attempted to contact her.

Butler has history of making bigoted comments on social media. She believes God is a “white racist…carrying a gun and stalking young black men” because George Zimmerman was found not guilty in the Trayvon Martin case.

She also referred to Michael Brown’s death as a blood sacrifice.
