• Ahmed ‘The Clock Kid’ Demands $15 Million from Taxpayers

The family of Ahmed “Clock Boy” Mohamed is demanding a total of $15 million dollars from the City of Irving and the Irving Independent School District or else they will file a lawsuit.

The Laney and Bollinger law firm sent the City of Irving an ultimatum asking it pay the Mohamed family $10 million and the Irving ISD $5 million for damages it claims Ahmed and the family suffered following the teen’s arrest in September, or else the family will sue.

The family is also demanding a written apology from the Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne and Irving Police Chief Larry Boyd.

Fourteen-year-old Ahmed Mohamed was arrested for bringing to class a homemade clock that school officials and police believed was a “hoax bomb.” Mohamed’s family quickly alleged anti-Muslim discrimination.

No charges were filed against Mohamed, but he was suspended from school. The boy was subsequently invited to the White House by Barack Obama who tweeted about his “cool clock”. He met Obama at a science evening at the White House, albeit without his clock.

Mohamed’s family relocated him to Qatar where he accepted a full scholarship to attend a Qatar Foundation school.

The family claims in the letter, obtained by Dallas Morning News reporter Avi Selk, that they want “more than anything to come home” to Irving. The letter gives both the city and the district 60 days to pay up or else face a lawsuit.
