• Cruz: ‘There Is Nothing Compassionate About Allowing Illegal Immigration’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) told Fox News’ Sean Hannity Wednesday that he is sick and tired of politicians saying that we need to be “compassionate” when dealing with illegal immigrants.

“There is nothing compassionate about a bunch of politicians saying, ‘I’m so compassionate, I’m going to give away your job,’ because that’s what they’re saying,” Cruz said. “None of them are losing their job, but they’re happy to tell working men and women across this country that your job can be taken away by people coming here illegally.”

He warned that the GOP will lose the 2016 election if Republicans follow suit with President Obama, Hillary Clinton and the Democrats and advocate amnesty.

“The way we win, Sean, is we run a populist campaign, fighting for working men and women who want to believe again in the promise of America,” Cruz said. “And we run it against the bipartisan corruption of Washington.”

A University of Texas/Texas Tribune survey released Thursday shows Cruz and Donald Trump neck-and-neck among likely Republican presidential primary voters in Texas. Cruz and Trump each receive 27 percent support in the poll, followed by Ben Carson at 13 percent.
