Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was in the middle of explaining why he thought implementing a no-fly zone over Syria would be a bad idea during Tuesday night’s Republican presidential debate when Carly Fiorina attempted to cut him off.
Donald Trump then called Fiorina out.“Why does she keep interrupting everybody?” Trump asked.
The audience laughed at first, then booed him.
Fiorina insinuated on CNN after the debate that Trump singled her out because he is sexist.
“Mr. Trump hurls insults at lots of people. He always has,” she told CNN’s Dana Bash. “He spent the weekend talking about Ben Carson’s biography as a fabrication. Mr. Trump’s platform seems to be ‘I’m great and everyone else is a loser.’ And I think a lot of people are tired of it.”
Bash asked Fiorina if she felt if Trump criticized her because of her gender and Fiorina concurred.“Well, you ask yourself,” the former Hewlett Packard CEO replied. “People were interrupting each other all night long. And suddenly when I make a point Mr. Trump has to say, ‘I wonder why she keeps interrupting?’ But it’s typical of him. But That’s the point. It’s typical. He finds a reason to insult virtually everyone he stands on the stage with, eventually, tonight it was my turn.”
