Paris Attack Death Toll At Least Five Times That Of Charlie Hebdo Massacre

French media is reporting that 60 people have been killed after a man opened fire with a kalashnikov and explosions close to the Stade de France — a number more than five times that of the dead in the Charlie Hebdo massacre in January.

In separate attacks, a man opened fire near the Bataclan arts center in the 11th district. Police have confirmed a hostage situation has now developed at the arts center, with 100 people reportedly taken prisoner.

A second shooting took place at the Petit Cambodge restaurant in the 10th district, with witnesses reporting bodies lying in the road. The restaurant is only a short distance from the infamous Charlie Hebdo massacre that took place in January. The area has been sealed off.

The attack took place while France and Germany’s soccer teams were playing a friendly match at the Stade de France. President Francois Hollande who was inside the stadium at the time of the explosions has since been evacuated to the Interior Ministry.

The offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo were attacked on January 7 by brothers Saïd and Chérif Kouachi. Armed with assault weapons, they slaughtered 12 people and injured 11 others. Charlie Hebdo had already been fired bombed for publishing images of the prophet Muhammed. The Kouachi brothers said they belonged to the terrorist group Al-Qaeda’s branch in Yemen.
