The day after ISIS executed a series of attacks in Paris, Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) argued that climate change is a more detrimental national security threat than terrorism
Sanders was asked during Saturday’s Democratic presidential debate whether he stood by his previous claims that climate change was the number one threat to U.S. safety.“Absolutely,” the self-ascribed socialist emphatically replied. “In fact, climate change is directly related to the growth of terrorism. And if we do not get our act together and listen to what the scientists say, you’re going to see counties all over the world—they’re going to be struggling over limited amounts of water, limited amounts of land to grow their crops, and you’re going to see all kinds of international conflict.”
The death toll in Paris currently stands at 129 people while another 415 people were admitted to hospital of which 42 are in a critical condition.
Sanders attacked Hillary Clinton earlier at the debate for voting to authorize the invasion of Iraq, saying the war had led to the rise of ISIS.
