• Self-Declared Islamist Gov’t Threatens To Send ‘Hundreds Of Thousands’ Of Migrants To EU

A spokesman of the Lybian National Congress has issued a threat to send “hundreds of thousands”of migrants to Europe if the EU doesn’t officially recognize its Islamist government that, it bears mentioning, wasn’t democratically elected.

The threat comes from Jamal Zubia, a spokesman for the Libyan General National Congress, in an interview with The Daily Telegraph. Libya has coastline on the Mediterranean Sea and would help African migrants by supplying them with boats.

“To be honest, I have advised my government many times already that we should hire boats and send them to Europe. We are protecting the gates of Europe, yet Europe does not recognize us and does not want to recognize us,” Zubia said.

The GNC held legitimate power in Libya for two years before the Council Of Deputies became the internationally recognized parliament following an election in 2014. Losing Islamic blocs decided to form a new GNC and declared its own government as the ruling one.

The warning is similar to threats by Col. Muammar Gaddafi, who said he would “turn Europe black” if the EU wouldn’t give him billions of dollars in aid.

“Gaddafi did this threat and brought Europe to its knees,” Zubia said. “It is a strategic threat, yes, but I would not rule out us doing it one day.”
