  • Iowa’s Millennials Choose Trump v. Bernie

    Caucus101.com conducted a “Straw Poll” of  Iowa High Schools on Monday. The young people of Iowa have spoken. It should be no surprise that the winners were [score]Donald Trump[/score] and [score]Bernie Sanders[/score].

    Both Trump and Sanders have staked out ground as the angry candidates willing to break up the old ways of doing things. That has always sold well to the youth of America and it still does. The passionate young voters to be won’t be voting this election cycle, but they might get a chance to vote for Trump or Sanders for re-election in 2020.

    As first in the nation, Iowa kids grow up with politics coming right to their hometowns, at least every four years. Politicians love to visit high school gymnasiums and main street coffee shops. Most teens who have any interest in politics have no problem meeting some of the candidates face-to-face during caucus season.

    If Iowa’s young people are mirroring their parents’ opinions, Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders might expect to have a good night Monday at the first-in-the-nation caucuses kicking off the 2016 presidential nomination.

    More than 50,000 students participated Tuesday in the statewide 2016 Iowa Youth Presidential Straw Poll — the largest turnout yet for the balloting organized and tabulated by Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate.

    Participating students in more than 280 schools in over 80 counties across Iowa were allowed to vote in both the Republican and the Democratic straw polls.
