  • WOLF IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING? Libertarian Group Pushes Liberal Climate Change Agenda

The Niskanen Center, is a libertarian group that has gone south on climate change. Libertarians get everybody’s cast-outs. People who think boldly or contrary to the two party way often find themselves hanging out in libertarian camps. Trump and Hillary are doing a great job of exposing the rot found on both sides of the establishment aisle.

Libertarians stand to gain a whole new batch of disgruntled folks this cycle, formerly Republicans and Democrats. Living outside the walls normally is a pretty great place to be, that is most of the time.

Sometimes living dangerously outside the two party walls you find people cloaking their true agendas with libertarianism. It’s a good strategy. Take an issue like climate change. The two sides of the two party war have drawn up their battle lines long ago and they’re not about to change.

So what if you’re a republican and you want to try to move the GOP toward taking the global warming seriously? What if you want to effectually move the conservative side to buy into the green energy movement? Not easily done.

When a nutcase like Rhode Island’s Democrat Senator Sheldon Whitehouse opens his mouth he does more to drive people away from whatever he is promoting. Whitehouse has been going around espousing the use of RICO laws to legally go after climate change deniers in the courts.

Whitehouse is fond of a good conspiracy theory and has made it known that he believes in the vast right wing conspiracy by the petroleum industry designed to mislead the public about fossil fuels cause and effect relationship on climate change.

Senator Whitehouse may be easily described in caricature, but he also tipped the hands of a much more coordinated effort by the left. In a speech on the senate floor he asked for unanimous consent that staffer Joseph Majkut be granted floor privileges.

The fact that Senators don’t usually call out and thank random fellows from the senate floor implies a cozy relationship. So who is Joseph Majkut?

Here’s where the story goes over the walls and out into the outlier camps of the libertarians. Joseph Majkut is the Director of Climate Science at the libertarian group, the Niskanen Center.

    Check out his bio:

“Joseph Majkut is director of climate science at the Niskanen Center. He is an expert on climate science, the global carbon cycle, and risk and uncertainty analysis for decision-making. Before joining the Niskanen Center, he worked on climate change policy in Congress as a congressional science fellow, supported by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Geoscience Institute. He holds degrees from Princeton University, the Delft University of Technology, and Harvey Mudd College.”

Sounds pretty legit. So what is the Niskanen Center?

    From their website:

“Established in 2014, the Niskanen Center is a libertarian 501(c)(3) think tank that works to change public policy through direct engagement in the policymaking process: developing and promoting proposals to legislative and executive branch policymakers, building coalitions to facilitate joint action, and marshaling the most convincing arguments in support of our agenda.  The Center’s main audience is the Washington insiders – policy-oriented legislators, presidential appointees, career civil servants in planning, evaluation and budget offices, congressional committee staff, engaged academics, and interest group analysts – who together decide the pace and direction of policy change.”

Sounds cool. A libertarian lobbying group. Seems pretty straight forward. Who is funding them? A North Carolina Republican entrepreneur named Jay Faison. Who is he? He’s just a mega-wealthy guy trying to effect positive change, right? He’s trying to forge a conservative solution to climate change that sounds eerily like the liberal solution.

He calls himself a Christian conservative, but his love for embracing the belief in climate change has brought on calls that he may be a RINO (Republican In Name Only). Click here to read a great article about the $175 million of his own money he is using to push the GOP toward a new stance on climate change.

Let’s play connect the dots. What does a well-financed republican political activist like Jay Faison, have in common with far left conspiracy theorist loving loon of a democrat Senator from Rhode Island, Sheldon Whitehouse? The answer is…Joseph Majkut.

The far edges of the two party spectrum find a common ground hiding in the libertarian think tank that is the Niskanen Center. It looks like both sides of the aisle enjoy coming together under the perceived safety of the libertarian banner to push for the leftists dream on climate change.

A RINO and Whacko Leftist wouldn’t get very far moving the republican base toward believing in climate change, but a libertarian might have better luck. Beware of wolves in libertarian sheep’s clothing. Things are not always what they seem.

For some reason this story makes want to sing a little song about getting rich from our energy natural resources. Here’s a little story about a man named Jed. Black gold, Texas tea is so yesterday. Now the big money is found in covertly pushing windmills and solar panels. The spidery web of power and lies makes me wish for a simpler time when things were so simple cousin Jethro could understand them.
