• Is Hilary’s Firewall On Fire?

    A COMMENTARY By Dan Perkins.

Bill Clinton dumped gasoline on the fire of discontent at a recent campaign appearance for his wife when he went after people funded by George Soros, the “Black Lives Matter” protest group. Bill wanted to know, “ Where they were when young back children are being killed by other black children.” I have asked this question, on the radio, in the print media, and on TV, of all the Democrats who rely on black voters to win the elections. Democrats say that black people vote for Democrats because Democrats care, even if they don’t do anything, their heart is in the right place, were as Republicans have no feelings, no compassion or heart.

The southern states were supposed to be the firewall for Mrs. Clinton to stop Mr. Sanders. Hillary has not done well in the last 7 primaries, and Bernie has won 6 of the 7.  I don’t think there is many firewall states left. As she has gotten deeper into the campaign she has become a less effective campaigner. She has made at least 4 major gaffs in the last month and she is not wearing well and it’s just the first of April. Her hope that Bernie would drop out of the race, so she could get some rest before the convention and the general election, does not look like it’s going to happen. Some Democrats are already asking “can she make it through the campaign, much less four years as President”. What I believe will become increasingly important to other Democrats is who will she choose for vice-president because they are concerned her health may not hold up for four years.

She has put up big money to buy the support of state parties and congressmen and Senators, and super delegates to help support her nomination at the convention. The love fest of the Democratic Party has turned into a slugfest and Hillary seems to be swinging at everybody showing her anger, is Bill next? She was recently heard at an appearance when she thought the microphone was turned off saying, “We have got to get more energy.”

One has to wonder if we are not seeing the demise of both political parties. Did the black firewall in the south vote for Hillary because in the primaries they knew she is not going to be President, and their votes were just sentimental votes, and if she is the candidate for the presidency they may well sit on the firewall and watch her go down in flames. Blacks are very disappointed with the President and what he has not done for black people in his term as President. According to the Chicago Tribune as of April 7, 2016 there have been 814 shooting victims in Chicago from January 1, 2016.  Will the presidential election of 2016 be the election that black people realize that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and they’re tired of being in hell. Will black people join the protest of the outsiders who are trying to take control of both parties and create a better America for themselves?

The Republican old liners are in no better shape, as two outsiders along with the rank and file of the Republican Party, are challenging them and their authority. They also see their influence rapidly slipping away and they think they know what is best for themselves, the party and the country in that order. No longer will the people of either party trust the current leadership to do what the electorate wants done. The amount of time spent on television, radio, in the print media discussing the possibility of a contested or brokered convention of the Republican Party shows how desperate the insiders are trying to keep control. The idea that the American electorate could possibly know who should serve the country is absolutely repulsive to them, which is why they’re fighting so hard to eliminate Mr. Trump and Mr. Cruise from getting the nomination.

For several months, some Republican conservative talk show hosts have spoken about this election perhaps being the most important in the history of the nation.  I for one, in all my radio and television appearances, have resisted from using that statement, but I say to you today, that I have become believer.  This could be the most important election in our history, regardless of your race, color, or creed, or sexual orientation.
