  • HUFFINGTON POST: 2nd Amendment Denies YOUR Attacker Due Process Rights

This takes the cake. File this under “Bat-crap-crazy”!

Justin Curmi, writing for the Huffington Post argues that the Bill of Rights is outdated and should be revised turned his attention to the Second Amendment.

Let’s start with the current and beloved Second Amendment:

“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Ah, the sweet sound of freedom. America’s Second Amendment is rather unique to us. It was formulated by men who knew a thing or two about tyrannical governments and how difficult they are to get rid of.

See Revolutionary War if your school didn’t mention it.

The HuffPo article is stunning in its laying bare the true beliefs held by many liberals. The author believes that if you are attacked and kill or shoot your attacker in self-defense you are the criminal because you denied the attacker his right to due process.

Wait…what? It’s difficult to follow the logic because it is so flawed.

The Second Amendment is highly contested. There is no doubt that people do have the right to carry and have a stockpile of guns (“the right of the people to keep and bear arms”) and a state has the right to organize a well-regulated Militia. But, the main issue is on the right to self-defend with a firearm.

The main problem with the notion of self-defense is it imposes on justice, for everyone has the right for a fair trial. Therefore, using a firearm to defend oneself is not legal because if the attacker is killed, he or she is devoid of his or her rights. In addition, one’s mental capacity is a major factor in deciding whether a man or woman has the right to have a firearm. There are two reasons for ensuring mental capacity. First, one of the Five Aims is to ensure domestic tranquility and there can be no tranquility if one does not have the capacity. Second, if one’s brain is distorting his or her reality, they do not have the proper reasoning and deduction skills to use a firearm.

Predicable. If we insert diminished capacity into the argument the liberals can deny the Second Amendment right to thousands of Americans. They are doing it with many returning veterans. Go to a shrink to get right…lose your Second Amendment rights.

Re-read the Second Amendment now. Do you see anything in there about mental capacity?

Mr. Curmi goes on to argue that citizens are not trained enough to know when to use a firearm, or when not to.

A gun for civilians is a weapon for a revolution and not for ordinary use. The belief that a gun is a useful tool to protect one is counter-intuitive because guns get into the hands of people who use them for horrible reasons. In addition, there are reasons why cops are trained to use a firearm in stressful situations. It is not to keep their mind at ease or anything of that sort, but to be able to fire accurately at the target in the correct location. It is immensely difficult to fire when under pressure.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Mr. Curmi and his sort, genuinely believe if you are in a quiet parking ramp and you get jumped by some rapist or robber that you won’t know where to aim. So basically, just roll over and be victimized.

Thank God for the Second Amendment and our right to shoot that SOB double tap to the chest at close range.

This article by Mr. Curmi is good fodder the Huffington Post. Re-writing our Constitution to do away our rights truly is lauded in liberal circles.

That is why those of us who believe in our self-evident rights must stay vigilant and push back against this junk for all of our days. Teach the next generation the joy of being able to shoot a gun and defend yourself.

Police response times average 7-8 minutes in much of America. A whole lot of bad can happen in 8 minutes. Defending yourself is the only way to stop violence in your path.

Shoot straight and keep your powder dry.
