  • Senator Grassley Not Interested In Caving To Obama Pressure On SCOTUS Pick

Senator Chuck Grassley, (R-Iowa) is a powerful man. He heads the Senate Judiciary Committee and is essentially the blockage that will stop any Supreme Court Nominee from even getting a hearing in the Senate.

He’s been in the Senate a long time. He’s an old farmer from “Flyover Country” perhaps getting the last laugh at the DC cabal.

Grassley is showing no signs of caving into the mounting pressure coming from the White House to at least schedule hearings for the nominee.

Grassley told NBC News via KWWL:

The Republican chairman of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary on Thursday said he and others won’t bow to pressure to hold hearings on President Barack Obama’s pick for the Supreme Court.

“When I make a decision on sound principle, I am not about to flip-flop because the left has organized what they call a pressure campaign,” Sen. Chuck Grassley said on the Senate floor.

“The so-called pressure being applied to me now is nothing, it’s absolutely nothing compared to what I have withstood from heavy handed White House political operations in the past,” Grassley, a Republican from Iowa, said.

Basically, Ole Chuck is saying, Been there, done that, got the T-shirt in the closet to the Obama Administration.

It looks like there may be at least one Senator that still has a backbone. It’s going to be a long year for Grassley, but it looks like he’s ready for it.
