  • LEADERSHIP 101: Governor Scott Walker Responds to Riots with National Guard

After riots erupted in Milwaukee following the death of a black man who refused repeated requests to drop his weapon…Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke asked the Governor for help.

    Sheriff Clarke issued a statement:

“We cannot allow for a repeat of what happened (Saturday) night.  I am going to utilize all available resources to accomplish that.”

Governor Walker answered the call to restore order by sending the Wisconsin National Guard.

Businesses were being burned. Cop cars destroyed. Citizens terrorized.

Would this be a repeat of Ferguson, Missouri?

    No.

Governor Scott Walker is standing with Sheriff David Clarke and helping him restore order.

Here is the statement issued by Governor Walker:

    From Fox News 6:

Protesters burned several stores and threw rocks at police in the city’s north side. A total of six fires were set, and four officers were hurt. They were treated and released. Seven squad cars were damaged, and there were a total of 48 “Shot Spotter” shots fired activations.

17 arrests were made Saturday night and Sunday morning, police said.

“He (officer) ordered that individual to drop his gun, the individual did not drop his gun,” Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said. “He had the gun with him and the officer fired several times.”

Sylville Smith died at the scene. It’s unclear whether the second occupant of the car is in police custody.

Smith was shot twice — in the arm and chest, the mayor said. His handgun was stolen during a burglary in Waukesha in March, according to police.

“The victim of that burglary reported 500 rounds of ammunition were also stolen with the handgun,” police said in a statement.

Order will need to be restored and Governor Walker and Sheriff Clarke are going to do just that.

When the police order you to drop your weapon…you drop it.

When you riot in the streets and burn innocent people’s businesses…you will get arrested. If that doesn’t work…the National Guard will make you understand.

This is not a race thing…this is a law and order thing.
