• Illegal Immigrants Arrested for Vicious Crimes — Which Didn’t Have to Happen

Surge Summary: A group of  illegal immigrants associated with the MS-13 gang have been arrested for a series of gruesome crimes. Why was this allowed to happen?

Do the math: if you have a crime problem, remove the criminals from the equation and the criminal acts vanish.

The Associated Press relates that according to a federal indictment released last week, individuals involved with the MS-13 gang hacked to death seven victims in a Southern California forest over a year ago.

It gets worse: the twenty-two people linked to a subset of the gang known as the Fulton clique are suspected of nearly 200 crimes in several states over nine years, the indictment said.

Of the twenty-two defendants, nineteen had reportedly entered the United States illegally over the course of the past few years, according to Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Los Angeles.

That’s well over 85% of the accused who shouldn’t even be within the borders of the United States – never mind being physically present here to wreak felonious mayhem.

MS-13, or La Mara Salvatrucha, was formed in Los Angeles in the 1980s by refugees from El Salvador and is linked to many slayings in certain parts of the U.S. In California, the gang has clashed with rival Nortenos gang members.

The group has been singled out by President Donald Trump as a threat to the nation and he blames weak border enforcement for the group’s crimes.

In one of these latest cases, a member of a rival gang who had been believed to have defaced MS-13 graffiti was targeted, authorities said.

This recent allegation is that on March 6, 2017, the victim was abducted, choked and driven the Angeles National Forest.  There, six people dismembered him with a machete, cut out his heart and disposed of the body parts in a canyon.

The indictment explains, six murders were perpetrated by gang members hoping to gain entry into or advance within the organization.

“We have now taken off the streets nearly two dozen people associated with the most violent arm of MS-13 in Los Angeles,” said Nick Hanna, the U.S. attorney in Los Angeles.

Hurray for that – but need it be said, there would likely be no need at all to remove the villains from America’s thoroughfares if they’d been kept out of the country in the first place.

Officials have characterized the six slayings as so “heinous, cruel or depraved” that the defendants are eligible for the death penalty, although prosecutors have declined to speak on whether or not they will seek capital punishment.

According to authorities, eighteen of the twenty-two putative MS-13 members had been apprehended over the last year on a variety of federal and state charges. Three more were captured in recent days in the Los Angeles area by a multi-faceted task force. The final alleged MS-13 affiliate was taken over the weekend of July 12th in Oklahoma.

Open border or lax immigration advocates will snipe about the numbers: there is no evidence “undocumented immigrants” are committing crimes at higher rates than native-born persons, etc., etc. Color me dubious; someone who is willing to flout the law to enter/remain in a nation is hardly owed the presumption of lawfulness in any other way. But even if true, these people are missing the point. These particular fiends wouldn’t have been present to carry out these abominable acts if America’s immigration policies had been effectively enforced in the first place.

No criminals on the scene, no crimes carried out there.

    It’s pretty straightforward.

Which makes this ghastly news all the more infuriating.
