• Medical Professionals Challenge U.S. Top Doc to Investigate Troubling Trans-Treatments for Kids

Surge Summary: Doctors and Medical Groups are urging the U.S. Surgeon General to look into questionable so-called treatments for children suffering from “gender dysphoria”.

I suppose somebody didn’t get the politically correct memo.

    “What memo?” you ask?

That would be the one marked, “There’s-Nothing-Wrong-with-Transgenderism”.

To be sure, this report from One News Now’s Charlie Butts cuts rather dramatically against what we usually read and hear in discussions of all-things “transgender”.

    Here are the specifics:

Medical professionals are calling on a top federal official to look into dealing with children who want to be the opposite gender.

It’s a fact: children as young as 8 are being given puberty blockers and girls as young as 13 are being given double mastectomies because they want to be the opposite sex (see related article). Because of the harm to children brought by the hormonal treatments and surgeries, the federal government has been urged to shut down those engaged in the practices.

“The combination of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones or sex-change hormones are happening between the ages of 8 and 16 – and this is actually [permanently] sterilizing kids,” says Dr. Michelle Cretella of the American College of Pediatricians.

Research and statistics have shown that children generally and naturally mature out of the mental problem officially known as “gender dysphoria” in their later teens. Let it be noted, parents have also recognized this kind of pattern for, oh, centuries? Kids have been growing out of all kinds of aberrant phases, desires and sensations ever since they’ve inhabited the planet. It’s practically a childhood rite of passage.

Then secular Leftism came along and disregarded all those hard-earned, millennia-old lessons from experience.

Take the newly christened “trans movement”, for instance. It has debuted the past relatively few years arguing hormone treatments and mutilation surgery are the route lots of these befuddled teens – or younger! – need to go. That protocol, they insist, will help prevent suicide among other negative fall-out.

    Dr. Cretella begs to differ:

“The best long-term study we have of adults who have had these treatments comes out of Sweden, … and what they found is that the transgender adults end up committing suicide 19 times greater than the general population”.

So, hormones and surgery might not be the cure-all they are being peddled to be? After undergoing all that injecting, cutting and stitching it seems the same person often remains, heartbreakingly struggling with the same pathologies.

Holding U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams to a pledge he has made to lead with science, Cretella’s organization has issued a letter,  pressing him to look into these “gender dysphoria” treatment concerns and take official action.

“Without your intervention,” the letter address[es] Adams, “not only will increasing numbers of children come to suffer under this large-scale unethical medical experiment, but also many of us will be coerced to choose between harming some of our most vulnerable patients and leaving clinical practice.”

Have you noticed, brain-somnolent progressives seem to thrill at putting people of traditional beliefs and conscience into those types of binds?

It’s worth mentioning, in addition to the American College of Pediatricians, the letter is signed, impressively, by representatives from the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, the Alliance for Therapeutic Choice and Scientific Integrity and the Catholic Medical Association.

Significantly, Dr. Paul McHugh, erstwhile psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital, is another signatory to the status-quo-shattering statement. In the past, McHugh has faced not a little heat from the “trans” community and its acolytes for bluntly challenging some of their central assertions.

Along with Dr. McHugh, this letter upholds the previously widely accepted notion that “gender dysphoria” isn’t necessarily as wonderful as presently advertised. It further, courageously, implies the suddenly fashionable, child-damaging responses to this condition are not responsible treatments at all, but instead an aggravating element to it.

Yup, that’s certainly the kind of thing in 2019 that’ll get people’s attention.
