  • Shocking Legal and Ethics Charges Filed Against Rep. Ilhan Omar

Surge Summary: This week Judicial Watch has filed serious legal and ethical charges against controversial Minnesotan Congresswoman Ilahn Omar.

In a piece posted at Lifezette, Wayne Dupree drops this bomb:

Doing Congress’s work for it, conservative foundation Judicial Watch is filing ethics charges against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) — and Dupree is convinced Americans “should be happy about this latest action”.

In remarks recorded on video, Tom Fitton, president of the watchdog group, cites immigration fraud, marriage fraud, and tax fraud among the charges he is levelling at the first term congresswoman.

Fitton specifically points the finger at Omar for allegedly marrying her own brother in order to ensure that he stayed in the country — obviously illegal. And icky.

She has denied the charges; in the past, she’s repeatedly run away from questions about the subject.

Just a month or so ago, Minnesota officials called out the congresswoman over tax fraud, but no major penalties thus have been given to her.

The official letter of complaint from Judicial Watch Is addressed to Chairman David Skaggs of the Office of Congressional Ethics in Washington, D.C. and reads in part:

Substantial, compelling and, to date, unrefuted evidence has been uncovered that Rep. Ilhan Omar may have committed the following crimes in violation of both federal law and Minnesota state law: perjury, immigration fraud, marriage fraud, state and federal tax fraud, and federal student loan fraud.

Such violations would also breach the Code of Ethics for Government Service, to which all federal officeholders are subject:  … Rep. Omar’s actions … merit your immediate investigation.

In the words of investigative reporter David Steinberg: “The facts describe perhaps the most extensive spree of illegal misconduct committed by a House member in American history.”

The evidence developed against Rep. Omar was the result of a three-year-long investigation in both the United States and the United Kingdom by Mr. Steinberg and his investigative reporter colleagues …  It is supported by information gathered from public records, social media postings, genealogy databases, computer forensic analysis, unaltered digital photographs, discussions between the investigative reporters and the subjects of the investigation themselves, and information supplied by confidential sources within the Somali-American community.

The written accusation goes on to catalogue the case against the thirty-seven-year-old representative.

    Among other claims, it relates:

The State of Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board has already determined that Rep. Omar violated state campaign finance laws for improper use of campaign funds. She was forced to reimburse her campaign thousands of dollars. More significantly, the Board discovered that the federal tax returns submitted by Rep. Omar for 2014 and 2015 were filed as “joint” tax returns with a man who was not her husband, named Ahmed Hirsi, while she was actually married to Ahmed Elmi.

Fitton summarizes and ends the missive with this a forceful summons to action:

Mr. Steinberg, et al. have engaged in meticulous research and reporting over a period of years. They have demonstrated with a high degree of probability that Rep. Ilhan Omar has violated House Ethics Rules, federal and state laws.

We call upon the Office of Congressional Ethics to launch an investigation into Rep. Omar’s conduct immediately.

    Wayne Dupree’s closing editorial thought:

Thank you, Tom Fitton, for staying on top of this and for being vigilant about getting to the truth on all of this for us. May God watch over you and everyone at Judicial Watch.

So, the bizarre and often unsettling Ilhan Omar chapter in American politics continues.

    Stay tuned …
