• Yep, Rep. Dan Crenshaw Is Definitely Exasperated with AOC and Her Democrats

Lately, it seems like Dan Crenshaw is showing up all over the place. The first-term Texas congressman has been particularly busy setting the record straight on illegal immigration and border issues.

He regularly impresses with the presentation of his thoughtful and calm but firm convictions — forceful without being obnoxious. (A recent widespread school of thought insists in politics strength requires bullying. Crenshaw refutes this attitude nearly every time he makes a public appearance.)

So, I was mildly struck the other evening at his comments to Fox News’ Martha MacCallum when the news host asked him to address sensational claims coming from fellow congressperson Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Her accusations have ranged from unconscionable overcrowding at detention centers to “children in cages” to detainees drinking from toilets. Crenshaw’s rejoinder was – properly — unusually sharp and explicit.

“It’s sad to see, she’s getting bolder with her lies on this and this is what is actually happening, and this is what the American people need to understand.” (Carlos Garcia/The Blaze)

Crenshaw continued that AOC and her like-minded colleagues are driven by political objectives, “operating off of a false premise … deliberately designed to misinform the American people.”

“Remember first there was no crisis at all, OK? Then it was a manufactured crisis then it was a crisis completely created by Trump, then there were concentration camps, then people are Nazis …

“Now she’s saying that Border Patrol harassed her and forced migrants to drink out of toilets …

“This is insanity, this is not true, there’s just nobody else corroborating these kinds of reports. And yet she’s using it to try to make her case that we shouldn’t have any enforcement and that we should have open borders. This is really dishonest behavior from a member of Congress.”

MacCallum asked Crenshaw to remark on release of photos of “very overcrowded, very untenable situations” at the holding facilities.

Retorting that the Democrats are not really interested in solving the problem, but only in scoring points against ideological rivals, he said,

“[T]hese Democrats need to have a reasonable, logical conversation, engage in some problem-solving and then offer an actual solution, because what they’re really doing is trying to stand on their moral high horse and sling arrows at everybody else while not offering a solution.”

“Let’s not forget, they fought us tooth and nail against that $4.5 billion of humanitarian aid that the president needed, that DHS needed, that HHS needed, in order to better conditions at these facilities …They said there was no crisis, we asked for a vote in the House seventeen times, they refused to do it.”

“What they really want is no enforcement, and this is the crux of it,” he wrapped the discussion.

“They don’t talk about what the actual problem is, which is tens of thousands of people coming across and overwhelming our system, OK?”

Again, a tad more acerbic than what we normally see from Rep. Crenshaw but not nasty or out of bounds; simply blunt. You get the impression he’s a little frustrated with Team AOC’s antics. With the crisis continuing to percolate malevolently on the nation’s southern border while Democrats cynically string along the matter, can you blame him?
