• Controversy Continues to Swirl Around Radical MN Congresswoman Omar

Surge Summary: More controversy around Democratic Minnesota Rep. IlhanOmar’s marital situation: Charges of adultery and misuse of campaign funds — which she denies. It goes on …

    Jack Crowe/National Review reports:

Since last year, Representative IlhanOmar’s (D., Minn.) campaigns allegedly have paid out roughly $230,000 to a consulting firm owned by Tim Mynett. Mynett is a fundraising strategist whose wife, in a recent divorce filing obtained by the New York Post, accused him of having an affair with the Minnesota Congresswoman.

Omar’s 2018 campaign spent $62,674 on “fundraising consulting” services provided by the E Street Group (Mynett has a partnership stake in E Street). The first-term Democrat’s spending has increased since. Her 2020 reelection campaign, according to FEC data, has doled out $160,000 to Mynett so far in 2019. That amount constitutes one-third of its total expenditures; and recall this is an off year.

[Mynett] told his wife that he had fallen in love with Omar over the months they had been working together and rejected her attempts to salvage their marriage.

“The parties physically separated on or about April 7, 2019, when Defendant told Plaintiff that he was romantically involved with and in love with another woman, IlhanOmar,” reads the divorce filing, submitted in D.C. court on Tuesday.

Less than one week after Mynett disclosed the affair, Omar’s reelection campaign began paying for Mynett’s travel. Mynett’s wife believes the travel, which has cost the campaign more than 20,000 since April, was not work-related.

“Defendant’s more recent travel and long work hours now appear to be more related to his affair with Rep. Omar than with his actual work commitments,” the divorce filing reads.

Somalian-born Islamic Congresswoman Omar is denying these charges. We do know she is fully on board with her party’s abortion-mania and big on the LGBTQ bandwagon so, if these accusations also turn out to be true, observers might be justified asking: Exactly what kind of Muslim is she?

The conservative National Legal and Policy Center filed an FEC complaint Wednesday morning alleging that Omar violated the law by funding her romantic partner’s travel.

“If Ilhan for Congress reimbursed Mynett’s LLC for travel so that Rep. Omar would have the benefit of Mynett’s romantic companionship, the expenditures must be considered personal in nature,” NLPC said in its complaint, which was obtained by the Daily Caller.

It’s not the first time Omar has faced FEC violations; she was hit with a $500 fine in June for improperly using campaign funds to travel to a conference in Florida.

Neither are eye-brow raising claims about her marital history anything new.

A series of 2912 social media posts identified her then-husband, Ahmed Elmi, as her child’s uncle. That bizarre detail would mean she had married her brother – possibly to skirt U.S. immigration law?

She has suspiciously refused to comprehensively address the controversy – although she did call it “disgusting lies” — which began to attract serious attention this year after evidence turned up that she likely lied to Minnesota authorities about her knowledge of Elmi’s whereabouts in the process of obtaining a no-fault divorce from him. And currently? Omar is married to another man, Ahmed Hirsi – with conflicting reports indicating they are or aren’t presently separated.

    Whew. Dizzying.

This puzzling concatenation of marital circumstances has raised concerns about her past tax-filings as well.

Remember, many of these well-known allegations are still being adjudicated legally, journalistically and in the court of public opinion. Still, one has to wonder if Rep. Omar regrets putting herself in the spotlight the way she has, especially the past several months.
