• Guatemalans Say: Thanks, but Not Thanks to Pelosi and ‘The Squad’

Surge Summary: A crowd of Guatemalans let Nancy Pelosi and “The Squad” know they are not welcome nor appreciated in their country.

It’ll be no surprise to many of us that disgust with and opposition to “The Squad” has been mounting – but from Guatemala?

Actually, it’s negativity toward the four young congresswomen and Nancy Pelosi bubbling up from our neighbor to the south.

    Breitbart’s John Binder writes:

Guatemalans protested House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and “The Squad,” which consists of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), demanding that they stay out of the country’s public policy decisions.

In a public relations double-whammy against the five elected U.S. officials, more than 500 Guatemalans, in fact, marched through the Avenida la Reforma in Guatemala City on Thursday and let their objections be known outside the U.S. embassy. A Congressional Delegation led by House Speaker Pelosi is scheduled to arrive in the country August 8, just three days before the nation’s second round of elections – and some Guatemalans are letting it be vociferously known they are not happy about it.

Protesters called for sovereignty for Guatemala against U.S. intervention, holding signs that read, “We will send you back” and “DemocRATS not welcome, this is NOT your country!”

The two groups who helped organize the event, Guatemala Inmortal and Mujeres Conservadoras Guatemala, posted on Twitter that Nancy Pelosi should “stay away from Guatemala!” writing that Guatemalans “don’t want anyone with a globalist agenda in our country.”

One post by Guatemala Inmortal appealed directly to the American president who, in case you hadn’t heard, is also no fan of the Lady from San Francisco or her four Democratic colleagues, “We do NOT want any democRATs, THEY are the ones sabotaging your plans with the far left in our country!”

Last week, Trump successfully negotiated a Third Safe Country Agreement with Guatemala that dictates that Guatemalans seeking asylum must do so in the first safe country they travel to and therefore cannot pass through Mexico and into the U.S. to seek asylum.

So it would seem residents of the United States are not the only ones wanting to keep some non-citizens from sweeping unbidden across their border. The regrettable news, alas, is this development suggests there’s no chance the Democratic quintet will decide – utterly voluntarily, of course –“La Tierra de la Primavera Eterna” (The Land of the Eternal Spring) would be a nice play to remain and settle down? Maybe even take their legislative mischief with them, running for office down there?

Some Guatemalans aren’t exactly rolling out the red carpet – even though red would definitely be the right color for the socialist-leaning ladies.
