• NeverTrumpers and Leftists Have a Lot of Things in Common …

Surge Summary: So-Called “NeverTrumpers” share a lot of qualities with Leftists — so a good dose of soul-searching would probably do them some good.

NeverTrumpers and the Left have much in common in their condemnations of the President.

Both groups claim the moral high ground and viciously denounce the President for his supposed immorality, ignoring whatever penance he may have accomplished.

For NeverTrumpers this is problematic, because most of them express real hatred, at the same time claiming to be the only true conservative Christians around. One finds it impossible to squeeze hatred and Christianity into the same soul, since Ephesians 6:12 states: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Further, when NeverTrumpers express real hatred this verse applies: If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For how can anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, love God, whom he has not seen? 1 John 4:20

Another problem for NeverTrumpers: Christians are commanded not to judge someone else’s spiritual condition as a pretext for condemnation, since that kind of judgment is God’s exclusive domain.

And finally, God hates certain things. He hates false accusations and “and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” Prov. 6:16-19

Wisdom from the Word tells us to bite our tongues and hold our temper but we all fail in this routinely, especially when we seethe with unending hatred.
