• Overstock.com’s CEO Resigns and Drops a ‘Deep State’ Bomb on Big Name Feds …

Surge Summary: Former Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne is coming forward with accusations that elements of the FBI involved him in an espionage operation which had its eye on Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.

In case you’re cultivating the notion that all the “Russian collusion”, “James Comey”, “Peter Strzok”, etc. stuff is going away anytime soon …

Stepping down Thursday morning from his position at Overstock.com, billionaire founder and CEO Patrick Byrne immediately went on a media blitz sharing further, alarming details on his “deep state” involvement that caused his departure from his firm. Byrne discloses former FBI agent Peter Strzok drew him — unbeknownst to Byrne — into this political espionage operation which targeted President Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio.

TheBlaze.com’s Breck Dumas breaks down the labyrinthine details:

Last month, investigative reporter Sara Carter reported that Byrne reached out to the FBI in 2015 after meeting Russian gun-rights activist Maria Butina and questioning her motives. Byrne says after being given the all-clear, he became involved in a romantic relationship with Butina, and later rekindled the intimate relationship at the behest of federal law enforcement. The young woman has since pleaded guilty to not registering as a foreign agent.

(Note: in a lengthy and discursive Thursday evening interview on Fox News, Byrne seemed to assert his relationship with Butina was not a physical one after he “rekindled” it.)

    More from Dumas:

Last week, Byrne confirmed in a news release to shareholders that he had, as Carter reported, assisted in what he thought were “legitimate law enforcement efforts” with “what are now known as the ‘Clinton Investigation’ and the ‘Russian Investigation.'”

Over the following days, CNBC reported, Overstock’s shares tumbled more than 30 percent. Thursday morning, Byrne resigned, and his company’s stock price rebounded.

Promptly — that afternoon, in fact — Byrne made his first explosive announcement on Fox Business Network. He identified Peter Strzok as the FBI operative who gave him orders during 2015 and 2016 as part of a deep state conspiracy. “I know much more than I should know” says Byrne.

The fifty-seven-year-old entrepreneur additionally reveals it was business magnate Warren Buffet, whom he affectionately refers to as his “Omaha Rabbi”, who urged him to go public with what he knew. He further admits he was offered a $1 billion bribe for his silence, but doesn’t specify that offer’s source.

Thursday evening, Byrne went on Fox News echoing the same story he recalled to Fox Business Network. He told host Martha MacCallum that “the FBI is barely involved in this, it’s all the top,” before saying his orders came from since-fired FBI agent Peter Strzok, since-fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, since-fired FBI Director James Comey, and others.

Byrne reiterated to MacCallum that “this was all political espionage conducted against Hillary Clinton, [Marco] Rubio, [Ted] Cruz, and [Donald] Trump.”

The former CEO also revealed that he, himself, “helped them set up Hillary Clinton to be blackmailed.” Byrne disclosed later in the interview that the “top” officials he referenced (and refused to name) were in the Obama administration.

In yet another interview Thursday night, Byrne reiterated to CNN’s Chris Cuomo that he was told James Comey was giving him orders during the Obama administration.

“The Swamp” doing its thing? Good grief. The evidence continues to mount it’s quite real, still at work, clamoring for exposure.

Who knows what’s accurate and what isn’t with Byrne’s sinister account. Jumping to hysterical conclusions won’t help, that’s for certain. His words and demeanor ring authentic, but this is just one guy — albeit a strikingly wealthy and successful one — telling an uncommonly colorful story. As in all things as potentially far-reaching as this, further investigation and answers from the accused and other involved parties are imperative.

Maybe it will turn out this is a scam, nothing to it. Or, perhaps, this is just the beginning; more knavish secrets to be uncovered; earth-quaking scandals ahead.

    Stay tuned …
