• Sen. Kamala Harris’ Hypocrisy: Some Slaughters More Acceptable Than Others

Surge Summary: Sen. Kamala Harris, Democratic presidential candidate, has denounced the NRA and called for increased gun-control — but when it comes to the killing of unborn babies? She doesn’t seem particularly troubled.

Eeek. It appears Baby Killers are more generously committed to their cause than self-defenders are to theirs.

    Pundit Star Parker reports:

Kamala Harris weighs in on guns on her campaign website with the headline “Taking executive action if Republicans continue to cower to the NRA.”

Sure, the National Rifle Association, with a reported 5 million members nationwide, is an influential policy group.

But is it really running the Republican Party on gun policy?

    How about if I propose a counter-headline?

“Taking action against a culture of death if Democrats continue to cower to Planned Parenthood”?

Parker is likely correct when she guesses most people would assume the gun-rights group holds more political juice than the big-name pro-abort outfit. No doubt, that would be the impression supplied by the left-wing media.

OpenSecrets, however, “the website of the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks money in U.S. politics”, offers another picture:

What you will find is that in 2018, the NRA made political contributions of $873,071. Planned Parenthood made political contributions totaling $7,183,139, more than eight times greater than those of the NRA, 99.5 percent of which went to Democratic candidates or to organizations supporting them.

The Center for Responsive Politics ranks Planned Parenthood No. 54 out of 19,225 making political contributions, and the NRA No. 543.

Admittedly, the NRA’s $873 Large ain’t anything to sniff at. But, compared to PP’s over $7 million? It’s relative chicken feed.

Why is Parker bringing Planned Parenthood into this discussion about guns, you ask?

“As I have been arguing all along,” she explains,

we cannot get to an appropriate approach for dealing with guns without considering the culture that produces deranged, detached, violent loners.

Sen. Harris reports on her campaign site, “In 2017, nearly 40,000 people were killed by guns in America.”

But also in 2017, 332,757 children were destroyed in the womb at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.

Unborn human being killed legally by their mothers in America in 2017? Also, nearly eight times the number of those slain via firearm violence.

Yet, Democratic presidential candidate and California Senator Harris declares:

“We are living through an all-out assault being waged on women’s health and reproductive rights. … States have mandated that women submit to invasive ultrasounds … and placed onerous and medically unnecessary restrictions on health clinics. … Their sole purpose is limiting access to abortion.”

Onerous? Unnecessary? You mean like basic safety measure which would be imposed on any other medical treatment facility?

Affirming her general cluelessness, the Golden State pol says, regarding guns,

“Fine, if you want to go hunting, but we need reasonable gun safety laws.” And she says that, as president, she would deal with this through executive order if Congress would not pass legislation within 100 days.

First, Sen. Harris really should know the Second Amendment is not chiefly about hunting. That wasn’t the focus when our Framers ratified it; it oughtn’t be the principal concern in twenty-first century America.

According to the Pew Research Center, more than 40 percent of Americans live in a gun-owning household, and the major reason for gun ownership, per 67 percent of respondents, is protection. Only 38 percent say it is hunting.

One of the plaintiffs in 2008’s landmark Supreme Court case District of Columbia v. Heller, in which the High Court affirmed an individual’s right to own and bear arms, independent of service in a militia, was a black woman. Shelly Parker wanted to have a gun for protection in her crime-ridden neighborhood. DC said “No.” Thankfully, a majority of Supremes said, “Yes!”

Our Declaration of Independence declares our God-given right to life and liberty. Our Constitution protects these rights.

Kamala Harris wants to use it to violate both.

Harris needs to be asked about this hypocrisy. Are we fighting for life and liberty, or not?

Recall Sen. Harris’ odd phrasing back in February 2018 following the mass-shootings at  Parkland, Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School when she declared,

“When you see the effect of this extreme violence on a human body, and especially the body of a child, maybe it will shock some people into understanding. … We cannot tolerate a society and live in a country with any level of pride when our babies are being slaughtered.”

Umm, “babies”? “Slaughtered? “Extreme violence on a human body”? “The body of a child”? Is the Lady from California describing the effects of murderous shooting sprees or the by-products of legalized abortion? Or, honestly, could her words apply to both?

Option three seems the most sensible — even if the radically pro-abortion Sen. Harris didn’t mean the words that way; and certainly won’t admit it.
