• Brave Guy: Comedic Actor Blasts Intolerant, Hollywood-Style McCarthyism

Surge Summary: Two Hollywood stars publicly call for shunning any colleagues who show up at a Trump-attended Beverly Hills Republican fundraiser. So, who are the intolerant, modern-day “McCarthyites”?

Y’know those relentless accusations of the “fascist Right” and “Conservative McCarthyism” that have been crowding the Left-Wing commentariat-scene for, oh, forever?

    Well, lookee here …

The Blaze’s Sarah Taylor passes along this information:

John O’Hurley, perhaps best known for his role as J. Peterman on “Seinfeld,” says that “Will & Grace” stars Eric McCormack and Debra Messing should be ashamed of themselves for appearing to advocate for the doxxing and blacklisting of Hollywood Trump supporters. …

The Hollywood Reporter published a Sunday news item that President Donald Trump is set to appear at a pricey Beverly Hills, California event hosted by top Republican National Committee leadership. Tickets for the Sept. 17 gathering? They’re commanding as much as $100,000.

McCormack responded to the news by requesting the outlet to publish names of those in the entertainment business who dared attend the event.

He wrote, “Hey, @THR, kindly report on everyone attending this event, so the rest of us can be clear about who we don’t wanna work with. Thx.”

Messing chimed in with agreement, writing, “Please print a list of all attendees please. The public has a right to know.”

O’Hurley had some additional thoughts concerning the Will & Grace stars’ remarks and he made them known during Fox News’ America’s News Headquarters Labor Day broadcast:

O’Hurley specified that he respects both parties, but is “embarrassed” for McCormack and Messing.

“Let me just say that I’m embarrassed for both of them. … And I’ll say this because I know them both and I’ve worked with Debra before. They’re both smart people and they do wonderful work.

“But they’re pushing a case that falls apart from the sheer weight of its lunacy, as though the Hollywood community needs to be purged of this social and intellectual hygiene problem called ‘conservative thinking’. … It underscores the fact that we aren’t receptive to diversity of thought, which is the exact opposite of what you feel the liberal way would be. I find that obscene.”

    Call it “Hollywood McCarthyism”. Please.

Question: Who’s the intolerant faction in this scenario? Who are the ones who disallow a variety of opinions? Admittedly, with McCormack’s and Messing’s threatenings we’re not talking about government censorship, which is flatly forbidden by our Constitutional system. But this kind of bullying, Tinsel Town, Media-driven social ostracism over political differences? It’s repellant and corrosive in its own way.

O’Hurley risks his career speaking up like this. Attaboys, big time, to him. May his outspoken courage inspire a glitterati revolution!
