Surge Summary: Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders cheers on the idea of the United States’ funding abortions around the world — all in the name of “climate change”. Critics respond forcefully.
Just when you are tempted to conclude the secularist Left can’t sink any lower, can’t more egregiously overturn the basic tenets of decency upon which so much of American was founded, something happens that reminds you: things can always get worse with this bunch …Tré Goins-Phillips/Faithwire spells out the disturbing details:
Forget debates over whether to implement the Mexico City policy abroad — Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a contender for the Democratic presidential nomination, wants to fund abortions in “poor countries” in hopes of curbing climate change.
On Wednesday night, CNN aired a town hall centered on climate change, and, at one point during the event, a woman who identified herself as a teacher told Sanders the earth “cannot sustain” the current human growth rate and suggested the unadulterated promotion of abortion would be a “reasonable campaign to enact” in order to curb population growth.
She then asked the presidential hopeful — a self-avowed socialist — if he’d be “courageous enough” to make abortion a central tenet of his plan to address the looming “climate catastrophe.”

Sanders, as you might expect, was very much in favor of the teacher’s idea.
He denounced the Mexico City policy. That measure was originally instituted under former President Ronald Reagan and denies U.S. financial aid to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) worldwide that facilitate or in any way promote abortion. The Vermont Senator’s take on it? “[T]otally absurd.”
Is there any blockheaded, destructive activity Sanders and Co. don’t want to underwrite with American taxpayers’ money?“I think, especially, in poor countries around the world, where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies, and where they can have the opportunity through birth control to control the number of kids they have, is something I very, very strongly support”.
Do you ever get the impression from so-called “Progressives” that, push-come-to-shove, they actually don’t care al that much for human beings in general?
Thankfully and appropriately, Conservatives and Christian leaders were quick to bash Sanders’ heinous suggestion that abortion – killing little people — should be used as government facilitated means to address climate change.
Lila Rose, founder of the pro-life organization Live Action, called the idea “disgusting” while CNN host and commentator S.E. Cupp called Sanders’ suggestion “vile” and “disqualifying.”
Let’s just state for the record: talking about needing “population control” through ABORTION for the sake of CLIMATE is talking about EUGENICS. The fact that @BernieSanders is willing to entertain this vile idea is not only disgusting, it should be disqualifying.

Seminary professor Denny Burk chimed in, asking, “Killing babies in utero is now the answer to climate change?” And Jarrid Wilson, associate pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, simply wrote: “Oh. My. Gosh.”
Nigerian-born pro-life activist Obianuju Ekeocha acerbically asserted the presidential candidate from the Green Mountain State “wants America to fund the killing of Africa’s unborn babies.”
“Why do you need opposition research when it’s done for free and aired on national TV?” commented Andrew Walker, a senior fellow at the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission.
Faithwire previously reported an increasing number of pro-life Democrats are searching for a candidate different than the likes of Bernie Sanders.
Boy, can’t imagine why …Another, more rattling question would be: Is today’s Democratic Party even capable any longer of supplying an acceptable option?
