• That Chick-fil-A Boycott? Probably Not Working Out as Planned

Surge Summary: Seven years ago, when Chick-fil-A’s CEO uttered biblical statements in public, LGBTQ raiders vowed to boycott the fast-food franchise. The results have been, safe to assume, not exactly what the boycotters hoped.

This has just gotta be a disappointment to those who hate Christianity and especially despise those who dare to live out its implications …

Protests against Chick-fil-A have been a wearisome constant since 2012; but so have the fast-food chains’ astonishing sales. Despite the doughty efforts of its nay-sayers, Chick-fil-A has continued to thrive.

Back in 2012 when the eatery’s CEO Dan Cathy voiced support for the traditional, Christian definition of marriage and family — and those comments sparked proponents of gay marriage into calling for boycotts against Chick-fil-A — sales totaled $4.6 billion.

Leap a few years ahead: 2018. Sales more than doubled, reaching a stratospheric $10.46 billion. That made Chick-fil-A the third-largest restaurant chain in the U.S., behind only McDonald’s and Starbucks.

While the boycotts may have been marginally successful, the Atlanta-based restaurant has proved itself to be nearly bulletproof. Their quality service and beloved product resulted in the chain opening nearly 700 new locations since the boycotts began seven years ago.

It all started when Cathy told the Biblical Recorder he does, in fact, hold to a scriptural understanding of marriage as a union between one man and one woman. [Tré Goins-Phillips/Faithwire]

This, keep in mind, is deemed unconscionable, certainly unspeakable, by the evolved influencers of modern society.

“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit,” he told the outlet. “We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”

“We operate as a family business,” he continued. “Our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that.”

Seven years ago, while many on the left bayed for boycotts of Chick-fil-A, the response to the boycott-call from Arkansas’ then-Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee was to launch what he called “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” (Aug. 1, 2012). The result? Record-setting sales for the restaurant. And continuing that pattern ever since.

The frothing from the secular Left has caused some opinionators to lose any semblance of perspective. Take one New Yorker scribe who snootily lamented the restaurant’s “creepy infiltration” of New York City.

Yep, serving up a delicious, much-sought-after edible product for a reasonable price – positively macabre!

Well, Chick-fil-A just opened a new location in  the borough of Brooklyn. And …?

Opening day. 7 AM. Lines wrapped around the block.

As they’d say in that neighborhood: Badda-Bing!
