• Pro-Christian, Pro-American Actor Chris Pratt Puts Himself in Hollowyood’s Cross-Hairs

    Surge Summary: Actor Chris Pratt is probably risking hefty criticism — and maybe his career in Hollywood? — with his pro-Christian, pro-American professions. A recent poem he posted on Instagram is a case in point. 

    Gotta give actor Chris Pratt his props – he’s been making sometimes unfashionable, pro-Christian noises over the course of the past couple years and taking some heat for it — but he continues to make his politically-incorrect feelings known.

    Pratt recently posted a poem exhorting folks to stop hating each other and to knock off tearing apart anyone who takes a different view of things than they do.  The verses, writes Lindsay Elizabeth over at christianpost.com,  “were filled with social commentary about how divided America is and calling for unity.”

    The Jurassic World star posted on Instagram what he called a “hot new poem” he said he found. It calls out the “madness”, rage and division currently roiling America over extreme politics and exacerbated by the media.

    Excerpts:

    “DING-DONGS/Ding to the left. Dong to the right. The reverberations swell/ Ding dong! Ding dong! They clang the outrage bell.

    “The media plays them like a fiddle Drowning out the healthy middle. Pick your tribe. State your name DISREGARD: WE’RE ALL THE SAME!”

    The poem also states: “Skewering truths, spewing sewage, leading mobs of frenzied voices, With two choices, red or blue, And key points to regurgitate.

    ” … Ask yourself the question: who profits from my rage?

    Note, the poet here seconds a sound biblical exhortation: “Be angry and sin not” (Eph 4:26). Anger, if directed fruitfully, can be useful. As a mere excuse to destroy, however …?

    ” … We’re His children despite race, creed, preference or age. Under God we’re indivisible. To stay United is our duty.”

    Pratt, an outspoken Christian, hasn’t been shy about publicly expressing his faith in prominent places. Accepting the Generation Award at this year’s MTV Movie and TV Awards, the Guardians of the Galaxy actor proclaimed undisguised Christian guidance via nine points of advice.

    Over 390,000 people thanked Pratt for the Instagram post with likes. Pratt’s “Avengers: Infinity War” co-star Josh Brolin even told the actor that the poem was “amazing.”

    Others, of course, pleaded with Pratt: ixnay on the political involvement.

    Can’t help wondering: do they proffer the same counsel to DeNiro, Streisand and other outspoken Hollywood Leftists?

    On July 4, along with a photo of the Declaration of Independence Pratt took to Instagram with some of his other thoughts on America.

    “I personally believe it’s important to reflect upon the idea of America. Any institution made by humans is bound to be imperfect. But it is our responsibility to strive to improve, to form a ‘more perfect union.’”

    Pratt passed along a folksy and practical bit of advice he believes can help people come together despite their areas of disagreement:

    “What can we do? How can we heal this growing divide? I feel like recognizing the fact that nobody is perfect is a start. It allows us to judge less, to realize despite our differences we have common ground And what is our common ground? In the words of Abraham Lincoln [quoting the Declaration of Independence], ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.’ Sounds good to me!” Pratt said.

    Pray for Chris Pratt. Talking about God and identifying as a Christian? Expressing red-white-and-blue sentiments? Hinting that maybe – mayyy-be – some folks on the political Left might not have it all together?

    This guy definitely could be in trouble in Tinsel Town.
