• In Case of Any Doubt: Recent Election Underscores San Francisco’s Radicalness

Surge Summary: With the election of anti-police Leftist Chesa Boudin as district attorney, San Francisco confirms itself a refuge for radicalism.

Well, well. San Francisco … living up to its reputation …

Here’s the scoop from The Hollywood Conservative staff (via American Action News):

After days of delay so ballots could be counted, progressive candidate Chesa Boudin has been declared winner of the race for San Francisco district attorney.

A progressive snagging high office in the city that is the financial center of Northern California? Not at all unusual. What is striking is what Boudin’s now-accepted background and views illustrates, to wit: how radicalized the Democratic Party has become even in the last decade.

Boudin is the son of Weather Underground members who drove the getaway car during an infamous armed robbery that claimed the lives of two police officers and a security guard.

His father remains in prison, serving a 75-years-to-life sentence. His mother, sentenced to more than 20 years, now runs a criminal justice initiative at Columbia University.

Insult to injury? Boudin’s campaign platform included proposals to close jails and protect illegal immigrants from deportation. (NBC News)

The former deputy public defender declared victory Saturday night after four days of ballot counting determined he was ahead of interim District Attorney Suzy Loftus. The latest results from the San Francisco Department of Elections gave Boudin a lead of 8,465 votes.

For her part, Loftus stated she’ll work to make possible a smooth and immediate transition.

    Boudin’s post-triumph declaration?

“The people of San Francisco have sent a powerful and clear message: It’s time for radical change to how we envision justice. I’m humbled to be a part of this movement that is unwavering in its demand for transformation.”

    “Radical change”? “Movement”? “Unwavering”? “Transformation”?

Memo to the habitués of the City by the Bay: Brace yourselves.

Boudin entered the race as an underdog and captured voters’ attention with his extraordinary life story: He was 14 months old when his parents, who were members of the far-left Weather Underground, dropped him off with a babysitter and took part in an armored car robbery in upstate New York that left two police officers and a security guard dead.

Now, it’s true a child should not be held accountable for the “sins of the father” — but neither should those misdeeds serve as any kind of endorsement. Every indicator from his career up this point and his current (”anti-police”) policy positions communicate Boudin inherited, at the very least, some of his parents’ far-left instincts. Your standard American electorate might be troubled by that.

Of course, we are talking here about San Francisco …
