• Still Standing? Chick-fil-A Insists It Has NOT Buckled to LGBTQ Pressures

Surge Summary: Following a controversy over a change in its charitable giving policy, Chick fil-A is announcing it has not succumbed to LGBTQ intimidation. Christian Leader Franklin Graham believes them but pro-homosexual outfit GLAAD is not satisfied in any case.

After a few days of fiery outcry against a recent Chick-fil-A announcement, the restaurant chain insists it is not caving to political correctness and LGBTQ bullying in its decision to refocus its philanthropic contributions.

Sarah Taylor/The Blaze brings an update:

On Monday, the restaurant chain announced that it would no longer be donating to anti-LGBTQ organizations — or organizations with traditional views on human sexuality — which apparently includes the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

    (More here.)

Per The Christian Post, the company presses that it was not compromising its founding Christian beliefs.

“Beginning in 2020 the Chick-fil-A Foundation will introduce a more focused giving approach, donating to a smaller number of organizations working exclusively in the areas of hunger, homelessness and education,” a spokesperson told the outlet. “We have also proactively disclosed our 2018 tax filing and a preview of 2019 gifts to date on chick-fil-afoundation.org. The intent of charitable giving from the Chick-fil-A Foundation is to nourish the potential in every child.”

The statement added that the company aims to donate to the “most effective organizations” to help children.

So, we can then assume, then, the franchise will continue openly and unashamedly stumping for the mother/father model of marriage? The sociological data is overwhelming: that’s “the most effective organization”, i.e., the most salubrious arrangement for families; an “organization” otherwise known as a stable home.

“Our goal is to donate to the most effective organizations in the areas of education, homelessness and hunger,” the statement continued. “No organization will be excluded from future consideration — faith-based or non-faith based.”

The spokesperson continued, “I also wanted to add that Chick-fil-A will not be opening on Sundays.”

So, what is the pro-homosexual organization GLAAD saying in light of Chick-fil-A’s modified policy?

Of absolutely no surprise whatsoever, for that group, evidently, the move simply isn’t enough. Tuesday, it tweeted a statement of its own on the heels of the restaurant chain’s announcement.

“If Chick-Fil-A is serious about their pledge to stop holding hands with divisive anti-LGBTQ activists, then further transparency is needed regarding their deep ties to organizations like Focus on the Family, which exist purely to harm LGBTQ people and families,” the statement read.

For those of us who didn’t realize Focus on the Family existed “purely to harm LGBTQ people and families”, we can henceforth consider ourselves enlightened. Thanks, GLAAD!

“Chick-Fil-A investors, employees, and customers can greet today’s announcement with cautious optimism,” the statement continued, “but should remember that similar press statements were previously proven to be empty.”

The statement also nonsensically warned Chick-fil-A still has a way to go in ensuring “safe workplaces” for LGBTQ employees.

“In addition to refraining from financially supporting anti-LGBTQ organizations, Chick-Fil-A still lacks policies to ensure safe workplaces for LGBTQ employees and should unequivocally speak out against the anti-LGBTQ reputation that their brand represents,” the statement concluded.

It seems I missed the voluminous press releases reporting all the assaults, batteries and general abuse being inflicted upon legions of homosexuals by CfA and those under its employ across the country.

This reaction, as Dr. Michael Brown clarifyingly enunciates in a timely column, is why you NEVER compromise principles in an attempt to appease Leftist/Secularist forces. NEVER.

Stand for what you believe, civilly, honorably, loving your enemies but refusing to overthrow your convictions for them … and let the chicken sandwiches fall where they may.

Note: Christian leader Franklin Graham just released his own statement on Facebook which said, in part:

    Has Chick-fil-A caved? …

I picked up the phone and called Dan Cathy [Chick-fil-A CEO]. Dan was very clear that they have not bowed down to anyone’s demands, including the LGBTQ community. They will continue to support whoever they want to support. They haven’t changed who they are or what they believe. Chick-fil-A remains committed to Christian values. Dan Cathy assured me that this isn’t going to change. I hope all those who jumped to the wrong conclusion about them read this.

And I hope he is correct. The fast-food chain’s actions in the days ahead will demonstrate to observers whether this is merely damage control or something more substantive. A few generous financial gifts to those fine Christian groups the corporation has said they will no longer be supporting would go a long way toward affirming the latter.

Let’s be praying that turns out to be the case.
