• Down to Bernie and Joe: Elizabeth Warren Officially Out of Presidential Contest

Surge Summary: Following promising early months, Senator Elizabeth Warren has now pulled out of the Democratic Presidential primary.

It has to be one of the most precipitous collapses in modern political history.

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who was being touted mere months ago, as the likely Democratic choice for the brass ring of presidential challenger to Donald Trump, has pulled out of the primary contest.

As she was ascending up the Dem primary ladder last summer/fall, it seemed the more she talked, the more potential supporters were exposed to her, the more her national popularity fizzled.

    Erick Erickson summarizes:

Her campaign was terrible and ridiculous. She ended with 1/1024 of the support she started with. …

To be clear: Warren won exactly zero primaries and caucuses. She had no evidence skills or political potential. Her signature issue was doubling down on Medicare for All and it destroyed her campaign. Her campaign was overly focused on what progressives on Twitter thought and shifted and flailed accordingly.

After a dreadful Super Tuesday outing – she landed a distant and dispiriting third in her own state – she has now thrown in the towel on Oval Office aspirations for 2020.

And then there were two: (Understandably putting aside Rep. Tulsi Gabard ) It’s now misnamed “moderate” Vice President Joe Biden and properly designated socialist Bernie Sanders who are vying for their party’s backing in going toe to toe with the current Republican president.
