Surge Summary: In the age of COVID-19, one pro family organization is going forward with a long-planned summit – and thanking the governor of Louisiana for treating people like adults, not children that need the government to make every decision for them.

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., President of the Ruth Institute, today congratulated and thanked Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards on his wise and judicious approach to dealing with the coronavirus. Morse also announced that the organization will move forward with its Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution (July 17-18) in Lake Charles, LA.
Morse noted the recent increase in COVID cases in Louisiana and Gov. Edwards’ call for increased vigilance to prevent the spread of the virus. “We’ve decided to move ahead with a live event – as well as streaming – because the health of the family is as important as the physical health of society,” Morse said.
“None of the evils we’re confronting – pornography, sexual abuse, gender confusion and other consequences of the Sexual Revolution – are going to call a time-out for a pandemic,” she added.
Morse stated further, “Gov. Edwards’ approach is in tune with the sensibilities of the people, and respectful of our constitutional rights. He is treating us like adult citizens, not like children or subjects. He recognizes that people have spiritual, economic, social and emotional needs, as well as medical needs. And we intend to be good citizens.”
These are some of the precautionary measures the Ruth Institute will take at the Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution:
- Limit attendance at the venue to roughly one-quarter capacity to maintain social distancing.
- Encourage everyone to wear a face mask, as requested by our governor.
- Have disposable single-use coverings for all microphones.
- Make bottles of hand sanitizer available.
- No live music or dancing, as we originally planned.

We will heed medical advice, follow local regulations, and trust in God as always.”
