There is a crisis occurring in far too many urban areas across the nation and it has more to deal with an emergency of economic hopelessness than it does with an escalation of crime. Blacks, Hispanics and other minority families are suffering in silence with Covid-19 and shattered lives that have been largely unchanged since President Johnson’s 1960’s War on Poverty until now. With President Trump’s innovative Opportunity Zones and $500 billion Platinum Plan true hope is restored.  In addition, the other piece of the puzzle to resurrect urban America is a new innovative project entitled Little Cities, WHERE AMERICAN DREAMS ARE RE-BORN.

For Black communities, President Trump’s Opportunity Zones have unleashed the economic power of the private sector, since its launch in 2017. Opportunity Zones outpaced the intended purpose which was to generate $100 billion in capital investment over several years, yet over the span of two years it has generated $75 billion in investments.

More can be done, and a Little Cities Opportunity Zone partnership coupled with full implementation of many of the president’s new half a trillion Platinum Plan economic development program goals will become a vital strategic and groundbreaking economic vehicle for job creation in urban American communities. Lawrence Jasper, CEO of Omega investments who created the Little Cities visionary plan has lived in the economic urban system as a youth and understands the fight for basic survival that far too many urban residents experience daily.

Jasper, firmly believes everyone deserves the right to the American Dream and designed the Little City franchise to provide those citizens high paying jobs and education to meet the technological needs of tomorrow’s economy. The bonus of Little Cities is that it will provide an equity interest in the mixed used development for the impacted city residents. Jasper explained, “This way they can claim their needed value and feel they are a part of the growth. It is the citizen that pays for the politicians not the other way around, so we need to protect their lives and their families, by providing digital education, medical, and professional services at wholesale cost not retail.”

President Trump’s visionary Opportunity Zones, have successfully begun to address the historic problem of increasing the median family income rate above the poverty rate in urban communities. Remedying generational poverty for urban families is real. Residents in Opportunity Zones have an average poverty rate of 27.7 percent compared with the national poverty rate of 14.1 percent. According to the White House, Opportunity Zone residents’ median family income (MFI) is $47,316, compared to $73,965 nationally. Three-fifths of zones have an MFI below $50,000.  Little Cities will work with Opportunity Zones to systematically and directly address and remedy those glaring economic imbalances. According to Jasper, “The Little City is the nucleus of the City itself, if you may, ‘the heart and soul’ of the community.  We hire the local workforce for construction, operations, and R & D interacting with current technology and more. “

The City of Pontiac, Michigan is ground zero for the launch of Little Cities, because it has many of the same negative educational, educational and economic development needs that are located in the 8,760 communities in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, and 5 Territories that have been designated as Opportunity Zones.  In fact, Little Cities is a win-win solution that nearly 35 million Americans who live in communities designated as Opportunity Zones and Pontiac need and deserve.

Pontiac, Michigan is the pilot Little City franchise location because it has all of the necessary ingredients for building and showcasing what the Little Cities systems through its Intradependent business model can accomplish and serve as a model for urban and rural America.

Due to a dwindling high skilled workforce, shrinking business base, and marginalized educational and career opportunities in urban areas combined with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic the future of urban American residents, businesses and communities are hanging by a thin economic viability thread.

The opportunity for growth and an economic turnaround will be real according to Jasper. He emphasized, “The Little City franchise uses 50/50 percentage leases along with the help of the down payment by the Federal and State government entities. Its educational systems pay the workforce through the training process, providing childcare for their children, so they can support their families during the transition, which in many cases stop the growth of the minority community.”

The future of America’s urban communities and its poor and minority residents can finally take pride in accessing the American Dream and have an opportunity to experiencing the rebirth of their community, families and future through teamwork, technology products, and a new digital infrastructure that will according to Jasper, “propel the country into space exploration with products that can be produced within the USA, decreasing their cost for the general public and allowing us to establish the 21 Century economy this nation deserves.”

Little Cities OZ Partnership joined together with the Trump Platinum Plan is urban America’s future that will be delivered today.
