Surge Summary: Government overspending is driving America – and the world economy — toward catastrophe. There seems little motivation by the nation’s leaders to cut the national debt. An answer is for them to call a “Convention of States” and constitutionally demand a balanced budget.

“In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.” President Ronald Reagan

Government spending, the main inflation driver, is so wildly out of control many people have lost hope the problem will ever be solved. Few people stop to think about the global catastrophe looming should the U.S. default on its obligations.  If such a thing occurs, markets around the world will collapse, interest rates will spike even more, and a deep recession will ensue.

So it is clearly within everyone’s interest to work for a sound financial situation and stop the insane spending.  A bankrupt country has no national security. Prosperity? Forget about it.

The federal government is under water to the tune of about $100 Trillion considering all debt, including long term unfunded obligations. Near term debt is at $30.5 Trillion.  The feds run huge deficits annually. To keep up the federal government simply prints money. It’s called fiat currency because there is nothing backing it up. One day soon even the printing of money will not save us.  In fact, the more we raise the debt ceiling (yearly) the more we run up debt and the more we face catastrophe.

This then becomes the central question: will the politicians ever solve this terrible problem and thereby deliver us from disaster, massive poverty, even famine and global depression? In short, will politicians ever solve the problem they created? Do you have confidence any administration will do something substantive? We all know the answer.

The solution to the problem is not complicated: balance the federal budget. The federal government must cut spending, radically.  This means government officials and bureaucrats are looking at entire departments being dismantled. They will lose their power, their prominence and their prosperity.  Average citizens will also have to bear some of the burden because certain revenue enhancements (taxes) will be required to balance the budget.

Balancing the federal budget has long been the dream of conservatives who understand that liberty dies when an all-powerful government runs up debt to expand government power. We understand that to allow this to continue is to fund our own demise.

If our federal representatives cannot or will not solve this spending problem, then who will?

There is an article in the U.S. Constitution that holds promise, offering a solution.

Article V provides for DIRECT citizen action, allowing The People, in concert with their state legislators, to call a Convention of States (COS) to amend the Constitution for specific reasons, strictly defined. It is a difficult process requiring 34 states to call the Convention, and 38 states to approve any amendment subsequently proposed. COS offers the only remedy. Read here www.conventionofstates.com  to learn more, and to understand why a COS was endorsed by Lincoln, Reagan, Scalia, Eisenhower, Washington, Jefferson and Mason, along with present-day endorsements from Mark Levin, Dr. Ben Carson and others, https://conventionofstates.com/endorsements.

Volunteer. Take direct action. Save our country. Bless the world.
