Surge Summary: Of late, lies are abounding about Crisis Pregnancy Centers – yet the contrast between them and the profit-making Planned Parenthood centers (and “Big Business” Abortion in general) couldn’t be more stark.

Let’s be clear so as to cut through the lies told about the 2,500 crisis pregnancy centers (CPC) across the country.

First, they do not manipulate or deceive women facing a crisis pregnancy. Qualified medical personnel inform clients about all options, and the implications. The mission is to help women in crisis in any way they can. Many organizations provide services to women in crisis, post-abortion.

Secondly, these centers are non-profit. Clients are not charged. Women are free to come and go.  The centers operate on donations and private grants.

    Services rendered:

    >pregnancy tests

    >materials and support: food, clothing, housing, transportation

    >safe houses to deal with abusive situations

    >counseling that highlights options to abortion

    >free ultrasounds

(A footnote is in order: Planned Parenthood makes a profit and it is publicly funded. Abortion is big business: average cost per abortion, $500. A recent study shows PP received $1.8 billion from the government, 2016-2018. Do you think PP pressures women to have abortions or does PP push adoption or recommend women give birth?)

Thirdly, the CPC movement was started largely by Christians in 1973 after Roe v. Wade legalized abortion nationally. It’s not a group of far right crazies trying to enslave women.

Rather, it is a ministry working to save and serve women and children run by people who believe sincerely the unborn have a right to life, and to kill them is an atrocious sin.

Finally, it is telling, comparing PP and its supporters with reactions from CPC staff after the recent Roe decision. CPC personnel celebrated life and states’ rights. Prochoice individuals physically attacked about 100 crisis pregnancy centers nationwide, threatened personnel with injury, leveled outrageous accusations, destroyed property, and violated the rights of others. The real haters are apparent.
