Surge Summary: A chain of lies is keeping multitudes in the LGBTQ community trapped in heartache and even suicidal ideation. The truth, on the other hand, if allowed to flourish, will bring help and healing.

Doug Mainwaring is a journalist, author, and marriage, family and children’s rights activist. Susan Constantine, MPsy, is an expert on body language and its role in deception detection. Wayne Blakely, founder of Know His Love ministries, spent nearly forty years as a gay man.

“There was a time I thought I was born gay, but science doesn’t actually support that,” Wayne says. “Living in the LGBT world, to others, we make it sound like it’s all great, but having lived there, I can attest to you that there’s a lot of backstabbing and a lot of pain, a lot of suicide… because they’re not finding the love they so desperately want.”

Wayne shares how helpful therapy has been to him, particularly in dealing with his abusive childhood and early abandonment by his parents.

But Change Allowing Therapy is difficult to come by thanks to Sam Brinton, the government employee recently fired for stealing luggage from airport carousels. Brinton testified worldwide about his “conversion therapy” torture. Partly because of him, 20 states and 31 regions around the world have banned such therapy.

The problem is, “The truthfulness of his therapy is that it didn’t happen,” Susan says. “It was so obvious… What it boiled down to is, this is a person who is an attention seeker.”

“When a person has unwanted same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria, there’s generally comorbidities that go along with that,” Doug says. “So, if everything that falls under the category of conversion therapy is outlawed, people will not get the help they need for those comorbidities. It’s a huge problem. It’s a huge threat to this cohort of people.”
